I have attended All Souls’ for approximately 15 years and have ushered at the 8:00 a.m., Sunday service the last few years. I grew up attending Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Shawnee, Oklahoma and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Holdenville, Oklahoma, where I was confirmed. I have been married to Jeanie Butts since 1987. We have two adult children, Alex Butts Brady and Zoe Butts.
I received a B.S. degree from Washington & Lee University in 1980. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma Law School in 1983. From 1983 to 2005 I practiced primarily medical malpractice defense law in Oklahoma City at Short Wiggins Margo & Butts. Since 2006 I have represented patients in medical malpractice cases with my law partner, Perry T. Marrs, Jr. I served on the Oklahoma Bar Association Rules of Professional Conduct Committee from 1996 to 2002. I was President of the Oklahoma chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates in 2011 and president of the William J. Holloway, Jr., American Inn of Court in 2012/2013. I was Chairman of the Local Civil Rules Committee for the United States District Court, Western District of Oklahoma from 2010 to 2014. I was a member of the Oklahoma Association of Defense Counsel from 1983 to 2005 and the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel from 1992 to 2005. I am a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers. I am admitted to practice in all Oklahoma state and federal courts, the United States Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
