B.C. Clark
REMINDER!!

Did you know B.C. Clark’s generously donates 3% of purchases made by All Souls’ parishioners during the year to our ECW?  Last year that resulted in over $4000!  Every time you buy a wedding or graduation gift, or a diamond tiara, please remember to fill out the coupon to designate a donation to All Souls’.  It’s a very easy way to make a very significant donation to the  important ministries of the ECW.

In order for ECW to receive credit for your purchase, YOU MUST REQUEST A CHURCH COUPON AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE AND COMPLETE IT, DESIGNATING ALL SOULS’.

 Thank you for Supporting ECW!!

All Souls’
Super Supper Club

We would like to grow!!!! We want to grow and be the most active organization at All Souls’. Is the word not getting out that this is a fabulous way of meeting others in our Church?

New members, old members, former participants and current substitutes---please consider joining.  Remember, we accept requests to be paired up with those of your choice and will even make sure the group is lively and suitable.  Even though we try not to duplicate past pairing, if you wish to again be with those of the past, please advise us.

We would also like your input, suggestions and active participation.  If you are an active participant, please  don’t miss the opportunity to share this great ministry and mention it to everyone you meet at church.  For those of you that are not currently active, please call Mike Krywucki at 842-3737  ext. 2311 or anyone at the church, 842-1461. We would be happy to explain the process and introduce you to some of our most loyal members. They would certainly welcome you with open arms and hearty food.

We hope you get our drift here and become interested and consider joining. It is a great group that enjoys food, fellowship and getting to know the rest

of All Souls’ parishioners either for the first time or better. Visiting the different homes and sampling great food specialties is delightful, and meeting four times in a six month period allows for busy schedules. But for those that are even busier, we have a yearly schedule that meets four times throughout the twelve month period. There are currently two of these groups active.

Please contact us with questions and suggestions or to volunteer to recruit  members.  We can make this the  premier activity at All Souls’ and make our sister parishes jealous of our Super Supper Club.

Thanks, Mike Krywucki and other happy active participants. 842-3737 ext. 2311.

As a general rule, the identity of Stephen Care Receivers and their relationship with assigned Stephen Ministers is a matter of strict confidentiality. However, a circumstance has arisen which seems to merit bending the rule.

Our newest Stephen Minister is Ben Hardcastle, whose wife, Terry Fife, had a very beneficial and life-changing experience with Stephen Ministry which she chose to share with the All Souls’ Stephen Ministry group at a recent meeting. We found it to be so interesting and potentially encouraging to members of All Souls’ who have not yet explored the potential benefits of interaction with our Stephen Ministry, that we decided to share it with you. Here ‘tis! (The following is from an article written by Terry Fife for another publication.) Feel free to contact any Stephen Minister with questions.

“A bout of flu last Thanksgiving was the beginning of a difficult time for me that included a case of walking pneumonia just before Christmas. I was exhausted, overwhelmed, and depressed. The thought of Christmas and all the energy it required loomed ominously for me.

During this time, I pulled a book off my shelf that talked about difficult times as opportunities for spiritual practice. The cynic in me said, “Oh, great. I could really do without such “opportunities”.

The believer in me, however, said a sincere, small prayer, “Lord, let me get closer to you through this experience.”

One Sunday in church I decided to write on my Connection Card that I was experiencing a very difficult time and would appreciate some prayers and support. The next day I received a call from Canon Sarah who asked how she could help. She said she could do anything from lending a sympathetic ear over lunch to arranging for me to have a Stephen Minister, a fellow member of our congregation who was trained to “walk with” individuals at challenging times in their lives. At this point, I was trying to figure out how, despite the support of my loving husband and children, an understanding boss and colleagues, and helpful friends and extended family, I would make it through what felt like the impossible demands of the Christmas season. I chose the Stephen Minister.

I soon received a call… We arranged to meet for lunch at a cozy neighborhood café… Over the next few weeks, we talked, prayed, and ate (our weekly meetings usually centered around this)…

As I asked more and more questions, she would bring me books and articles that helped me understand healing prayer as a very real gift of a loving God.

One of the most beneficial things my Stephen Minister has done is to introduce me to some of the many resources at the Cathedral. One of my favorites is the Inner Healing Group that meets on Thursday evenings… I have found my participation in this group to be one of the most valuable experiences I have ever had. I do my best to be faithful in committing this time each week to the Lord.

Often now when I find myself indulging in the habit of worry or anxiety, I notice that I am able to catch myself, and instead spend the same time and energy praising and thanking God… Somehow, it had never occurred to me that I could make praising and thanking God a deliberate part of my day.

I’m happy to say I’m feeling much better these days. Having a Stephen Minister walking through a tough time with me not only made a difficult time more bearable, it has helped me feel closer to God, just as I had prayed.”
